For adults, I recommend Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale about Paris and the French countryside during WWII and the Nazi invasion. My daughter just got back from Paris, where she goes once or twice a year for work, and I've been encouraging her to read it.

It’s on my list! I’m actually reading Kristin’s Hannah’s very first book and I’m going to write about the experience of reading her first book and then one of her newer titles.

I've read three of her books; really liked Nightingale and The Women but I don't recommend The Four Winds. In that one (the Dust Bowl one), she writes about the setting really well, but the characters are melodramatic and unbelievable, in my view.

Enjoy!

Yeah, her first book Mystic Lake is sooooo melodramatic, but I feel like that was the vibe in the late 90s. I love witnessing an author get better and better with each book
