Well done for teaching the kids about labout unions! In the UK, they shaped our history in such remarkable ways. There's a danger that we forget that.

I find it astonishing that high school students don’t know what a labor union is. But why should they? How many places in their world are organized? I admire your refusal to patronize Starbucks. I haven’t been to one in years. Love my local independent coffee shops. It’s a shame that not everyone has that choice.

I'm continually astonished by what high school students don't know!

And I do have to admit to going to Starbucks sometimes...perhaps a 2024 goal (one of millions!) can include a "independent coffee shops only" clause.

Thanks for reading Mary :)

I learned quickly when I visited schools and introduced students to my books, I had to start by explaining labor unions. It was maddening to see how the curriculum glossed over important aspects of the labor movement. One lesson I saw talked about the "perceived injustices" suffered by workers.

Mary! I used to use your "Fannie Never Flinched" when teaching about labor unions! I lent the book to someone and never got it back. I'll have to get another copy and revive that lesson too.
