"Ever since childhood, when I lived within earshot of the Boston and Maine, I have seldom heard a train go by and not wished I was on it." --Paul Theroux
I LOVE TRAINS! *ahem* I really like trains and always prefer taking them. I'm one of the weirdos that can sit backwards on moving trains, and love to do so. I find it much more relaxing than cars. And as a writer, when you're around that many people, something weird is bound to happen or inspiration is bound to strike.
A great post Jenna. I love trains. When I lived in Cairo, I used to visit Alexandria by train. I believe that was the first train line in Africa , which opened in 1856. I wonderful way to see the countryside of the Nile delta region.

So true! Train trips are all about the people you meet :)
Also, I got tons of writing done that I wouldn't have worked on in a car (as I'm the family driver)
Yes! Absolutely. You don’t have to drive a train, you can just sit and enjoy. I’ve definitely worked on them, too.
Absolutely agree. A far more relaxing way to travel.
I love trains. It’s a great way to travel. Writing time, scenery, avoiding freeways. Thank you, Jenna.

I love trains too! 15+ years ago I took the Cairo to Aswan overnight train. Oh, how I wish I still had those pictures
Note cards! So glad to know you’re a fellow note card user.
Yes! Although I did drop my pen cap down the bleachers, so I'll have to switch to pencils next time.
that's a great book rec!
I went back to re-read it for the post and got totally lost in the book. I'd forgotten how good it is.
